Lock the scope down early
Before anything gets installed, confirm what is in the scope — DB work, cable routing, lighting and socket points, equipment loads, containment, emergency lighting, testing — and just as importantly, what is not included. Exclusions cause more disputes than inclusions ever do. A properly prepared MEP BOQ is the best way to nail down scope before a single cable is pulled.
Check the DBs and connected loads
Go through DB schedules, load requirements, spare ways, and equipment power points before installation starts. Finding out mid-install that a DB does not have enough spare capacity is a painful and avoidable surprise.
If your project requires a DEWA approval, the DB schedule and load details will be among the first documents requested — read our DEWA Approval Guide for what to have ready.
Coordinate wiring and cable management
Cable tray, trunking, conduit runs, and concealed routes need to be coordinated with the ceiling contractor, HVAC, plumbing, ELV, and fit-out teams. For a broader picture of how all trades align, see our Fit-Out MEP Works guide.
Safety checks before handover
Before closing out the project, walk through terminations, labeling, continuity, insulation resistance, load review, and any visible safety issues. Our MEP Testing & Commissioning guide covers the full pre-handover checklist.
